Two teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of 14-year-old Kelyan Bokassa.

A 44-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She also remains in custody.


Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee who is leading on the investigation said: “While these arrests mark a significant step forward in this investigation, we continue to appeal for anyone with information about Keylan’s murder to come forward and speak to us.

“I would like to thank officers for working around the clock in order to locate our suspects and praise the Woolwich community for their ongoing support and patience whilst we have carried out our investigation.”

Police were called to the incident at around 2pm on January 7 to reports of a stabbing on the 472 bus in Woolwich.

The Met attended the scene along with the London Ambulance Service and the air ambulance.

Paramedics treated a boy at the scene, but he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was later identified as 14-year-old Kelyan Bokassa.

His family are being supported by specialist officers.

Met Police called the stabbing a “horrific attack” with London mayor Sir Sadiq Khan stating “heart-breaking violence has absolutely no place in our city”.

Bokassa was an aspiring rapper, who was reported as “briefly” having been a student at St Columbia’s Catholic Boys School in Bexleyheath.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
