The mild and dry conditions across NI are set to stick around leading up to the weekend, the Met Office has said.

NI has emerged from last week’s spell of ice and snow, which has given way to more mild and dry weather leading into this week.

The current conditions look set to last into the weekend, with the Met Office mostly dry weather over the next few days, with the chance of some showers on Sunday.

“Tonight, it will stay dry with clear periods at first then cloudier skies edging in overnight bringing patchy mist and hill fog,” said a spokesperson.

“Turning chilly where skies remain clear, with a light southerly breeze. Minimum temperatures of 3C.

“Thursday will be another dry day and after a rather cloudy start, some bright or sunny intervals will develop with maximum temperatures of 10C.

“It will stay mild and mostly dry for Friday into the weekend, although breezy and rather cloudy at times, with the odd patch of light rain, especially on Sunday.”

Across the UK more widely, next week will bring further mild conditions, with variable amounts of rain cloud and often light winds.

“The greatest chance of any rain is likely to be in the far northwest of the UK, and possibly as well in the far south,” said a Met Office spokesperson.

“There is a small chance rain could become more widespread, and temperatures are expected to be around average.

“Later in the week, periods of much wetter and windier weather will most likely eventually become more prevalent, from northwest to southeast.

“Ahead of this a colder, more settled southeasterly wind may develop for a time.

“There is a small chance however, that alternatively winds could turn much more easterly, and colder, bring the risk of snow showers.”
