Linda Nolan, the cherished TV personality and singer, has passed away at the age of 65. Linda was surrounded by her loving sisters in her final moments, which were described as filled with “love and comfort”.
First diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2005, she was given the all-clear in 2011, only to be informed six years later that the cancer had returned.
In a candid interview with The Mirror last year, Linda shared the initial signs that indicated her cancer had spread to her brain. She experienced a noticeable decline in balance and memory, which led her to seek further medical advice.
Upon receiving the news of the cancer’s progression, Linda recounted her reaction: “I sobbed when my consultant first told me.
“I know so many people are suffering and going through things, but I thought, just for once, could cancer just leave me alone? My heart sank.”
Linda also spoke about her fears prior to the diagnosis, saying: “I had feared something was wrong. My balance has been getting worse and my memory – my sisters have to prompt me when I get lost in the middle of a sentence.”
During the crucial appointment, she was accompanied by her sister Maureen and a Macmillan Cancer support nurse. Linda’s intuition prompted her to ask her consultant directly if the cancer had spread, and upon confirmation, her immediate concern was about the next steps: “What do we do now? “.
As a member of the legendary girl band The Nolans, Linda faced cancer alongside her family for many years. Her father Tommy Nolan Sr succumbed to the disease in 1998, and her sister Bernie passed away from it in 2013.
Additionally, Loose Women star Coleen has been diagnosed with cancer.
Linda was accompanied by her sisters Anne, 74, Denise, 72, Maureen, 69, and Coleen, 59, in her last moments. The family shared: “It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of beloved Linda Nolan. She faced incurable cancer with courage, grace and determination, inspiring millions. Surrounded by family, she passed peacefully. A pop icon and beacon of hope, Linda will never be forgotten.”
In a touching online tribute, Coleen reshared the statement with just a simple broken heart emoji to express her grief.
