Viewers of The Chase expressed their frustration on social media, pleading for the programme to “end” as they felt the questions were excessively tough for some participants.

During Wednesday’s episode (January 15), host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new hopefuls aiming to take home considerable winnings.

Unfortunately, the initial cash builder round presented quite a challenge for contestant Amy and her fellow participant Thomas. They each managed to answer only two questions correctly amidst the rapid-fire question segment with Bradley, prompting dismayed reactions from fans viewing at home.

One fan lamented on social platform X: “Oh please make it end. Oh please.”

Another viewer vented their dissatisfaction, remarking: “This is exactly why I stopped watching The Chase. Every so often, I tune in to see if it has improved, and no, it hasn’t.”, reports the Liverpool Echo.

A third voiced their irritation at the strategy being employed: “Why is nobody considering the high offer? What a waste The Chase has become.”

In disdain, yet another audience member commented: “This is shaping up to be a super team …. Said no one ever!!”

Though the start was less than ideal, with Amy accepting a paltry £200 offer and Thomas later being ousted by Chaser Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, there remained a glimmer of hope as Emma, the third player, demonstrated potential.

In an episode filled with ups and downs, viewers were ecstatic to see contestant Emma advance to the final with an impressive £6,000.

However, the atmosphere quickly soured when the fourth contestant, Mark, who also answered six questions correctly in the cash builder round, opted for a significantly lower offer of £800 at the table.

One irate fan vented on social media: “YOU GOT 6 GRAND IN THE CASH BUILDER AND YOU TOOK 800? MARK IN THE NICEST WAY POSSIBLE. WHAT THE FOOK? “.

Another viewer lamented the trend of taking lower offers, remarking: “Low offers seem to be the norm now. Zero excitement as you automatically want/ hope they lose.”

A sympathetic third supporter wrote: “The only person I feel sorry for out of those 3 is Emma. I hope she’s living her best life right now after being stuck with two low offer-takers.”

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1
