One of golf’s most colourful figures went under the knife for emergency surgery this week.
John Daly posted on his social media accounts from his hospital bed on Tuesday that he underwent “emergency hand surgery,” which seems to have went well.
“Emergency hand surgery… thankful (it) went great and Doc McClimans for taking care of me. Be back playing in no time!” Daly posted X and Instagram.
In another post, Daly again thanked those who performed the operation while vowing to get back on the golf course “soon.”
“Thank you to Doc McClimans for getting me mended back!” he wrote. “Should be hitting em again soon! Thx for all the messages.”
The PGA Tour Champions, of which Daly is a member, sent its best to the two-time major winner.
“Wishing John Daly a speedy recovery!” the tour for golfers 50 years and older wrote in a post on X.
Daly has been known for his hard-partying ways and has gained a following for it. He has often been seen drinking and smoking while playing golf and has an endorsement deal with Good Boy Vodka.
Daly, 58, suffered a devastating loss last year when his $1.4-million home in Clearwater, Fla., was destroyed by Hurricane Helene.
“I’m just glad everyone is healthy, that’s the main thing,” he told the PGA Tour’s website at the time. “You live in Florida, you have to understand that’s going to happen, but not like this. I didn’t think it would be this bad.”

He also had been diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2020 and underwent surgery to remove it, but said there was a strong chance of the disease returning.
“Luckily for me, they caught it early, but bladder cancer is something that I don’t know all the details,” he said. “But it doesn’t look like it may go away. We will just see what happens. Maybe there’s a miracle.”
