Wrexham and Derby County have joined the hunt to net Northern Ireland striker Dion Charles.

The 29-year-old has lost his starting place at League One side Bolton Wanderers and several clubs are considering a move.

Huddersfield Town boss and former Northern Ireland defender Michael Duff is among Charles’ admirers, but he faces competition for his signature.

Derby sit 18th in the Championship while Phil Parkinson’s Wrexham are third in League One and pushing for promotion.

Charles has earned 28 caps for Northern Ireland, scoring four goals.

He began his career at Blackpool and previously played for Fylde, Fleetwood Town, Southport and Accrington Stanley before joining Wanderers in 2022.

He has scored seven League goals this term, despite starting only 15 of Bolton’s 24 League games to date. Bolton sit 10th in League One.

Charles has netted 57 goals in 149 appearances for the Trotters and his Bolton deal runs until June 2026.

Northern Ireland midfielder Justin Devenny, meanwhile, has signed a new contract with Crystal Palace until 2027.

The 21-year-old has played 10 times after making his debut in November 2024 and scored against Aston Villa on his second appearance.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner said: “I think it’s a very positive signal that Justin has signed.

“A player from our academy is doing really well, getting many minutes. And he deserved this new contract because he is working very hard.

“So I think it’s a win-win situation for the club. For him it’s a good chance to get more minutes in the Premier League.”

Devenny said: “It’s just another step in my career and like every step there’s an opportunity and I’m grateful to have it. It’s a new step, so a new time to work hard, a new learning experience and a new time to show everyone what I can do.”
