Canadian chanteuse Celine Dion is remembering the anniversary of her husband Rene Angelil’s death by sharing a rare photo of their three sons.

“Rene, we can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already,” she wrote in an Instagram post alongside the snap.

“Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson and I. You were my greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me. I honour you and you are forever missed mon amour …. We love you.”

Angelil, married to Dion for 21 years, was a Canadian music producer who managed her career as a young singer in the early 1980s before they began a personal relationship in 1988 when she was 20 and he was 46.

Despite opposition to their relationship by Dion’s mother, the couple married in December 1994 in a ceremony held at Montreal’s Notre-Dame Basilica and broadcast nationally in Canada.

Their first son, Rene-Charles, was born in 2001 after they turned to in-vitro fertilization. Following a miscarriage in 2009, Dion gave birth to twins Eddy and Nelson in 2010.

Angelil suffered from health problems, including a heart attack in 1991 and throat cancer in 1999, which he recovered from. He also underwent a medical procedure to deal with arterial blockage in 2009.

In December 2013, he had surgery for throat cancer. By June 2014, he stepped down as Dion’s manager to focus on his health.

Dion announced in September 2015 that the cancer had spread and he only had months to live. He died on Jan. 14, 2016, two days shy of his 74th birthday.

Last month, Dion shared a black and white snap from their wedding day on what would have been their 30th anniversary.

“You still fill our hearts, every day,” she captioned the image. “You are everything for us. We miss you so much. Happy 30th anniversary, mon amour!”
