TV presenter Carol Vorderman has faced criticism after posting a meme targeting Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK. The meme, shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, questioned: “How come every Right-Wing solution to poverty, hunger, health and employment involves giving rich people more money?”.

Vorderman added her own commentary to the post, taking a sharp jab at Farage by writing: “So true…. How’s NINE JOBS NIGEL doing?”. However, the response was not as she might have anticipated, with numerous social media users criticising her stance, reports The Express.

One user advised Carol to “grow up”. They said: “Grow up Carol. How does Reform UK’s flagship policy of raising the starting point for Income Tax to £20,000 (taking 6 million of the lowest paid out of tax) ‘give more money to rich people’? That is what you call a genuinely ‘progressive’ policy.”

Another user defended Farage’s work ethic, stating: “Blimey Carol, god forbid a man works hard for a living. This post epitomises everything wrong in today’s society, working hard is seen as a bad thing.”

A third user questioned Vorderman’s implication, asking: “Are you saying it’s wrong for someone to work hard? Is it better for someone to claim benefits?”.

Another commenter challenged Vorderman’s credibility, and said: “Carol, I don’t think you’re in a position to talk … Didn’t you advocate for the political party that believes in this exact same thing? Remind me, what is Labour’s solution to deal with the problems?”.

A social media user hit out with a pointed remark, posting: “Ironic, coming from someone whose net worth is apparently 18 million. Typical Labour ideology. Rich people telling poor people that other rich people are the cause of their problems…, showcasing scepticism towards political stances when juxtaposed with personal wealth”.

Nigel Farage has been dubbed ‘Nine Jobs Nigel’ amid revelations of his substantial earnings outlined since he took office as an MP. Reports suggest that in under half a year, he has raked in a hefty £571,585 through various additional engagements.

One of these roles includes his stint as a presenter on GB News, where he voices his perspectives on current affairs every Monday through Thursday, for which he is said to command a salary of £219,506.

In addition to his broadcasting endeavours, Mr Farage is available as a public speaker, listed on several platforms that facilitate the booking of celebrities for events. He also connects with his supporters by offering personalised greetings via Cameo.

A video featuring the MP will set you back at least £77, and his video messages last on average 39 seconds. Mr Farage is also said to have earned £24,000 from writing for The Guardian as a columnist.
