A 42-year-old Toronto man is accused of posing as an investment broker as part of a fraud scheme that police believe could involve additional victims.

Toronto Police alleged that, between January 2022 and September 2022, a phony broker convinced victims to invest money with the promise of large returns.

Cops said the man would then advise the victims that he “lost their investments” and that they would need to “sue him” to obtain their investments.

The victims would never obtain any money.

It’s further alleged that, between November 2024 and January 2025, the man would pose as a contractor and advise victims that he could repair their roof at a discounted rate.

Cops said he would obtain a deposit and then never begin the work.

No deposits were returned.

Georgios Sakellarishas been charged with six counts of fraud over $5,000, six counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, six counts of launder proceeds of Canadian currency, and three counts of fraud under $5,000.
