A Bristol police officer faces a misconduct hearing for allegedly using excessive force against a female. PC Ashley Tucker is also accused of sexually discriminating against her because he allegedly dealt with men courteously on the same evening.
A publicity notice of the tribunal hearing on Avon & Somerset Constabulary’s website said he allegedly breached the standards of professional behaviour in terms of use of force; authority, respect and courtesy; equality and diversity; order and instructions; and discreditable conduct. It said: “It is alleged that on April 16, 2023, whilst on duty in Bristol, PC Tucker used excessive force when dealing with a female member of the public and failed to disclose the level of force used.
“It is also alleged this conduct was discriminatory by reason of gender, in that by comparison PC Tucker dealt with male members of the public in a polite and professional manner earlier the same evening. It is contended that (if proven) the allegations amount to gross misconduct.”
The hearing is set for four days at police headquarters in Portishead from February 24.
