A man has been killed in a road crash in Co Cork, gardai have said.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash in Clonakilty in the early hours of Tuesday.
The single-vehicle crash happened on the N71 in the town at around 12.15am.
The driver and only occupant of the car, a man aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body was removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.
No other injuries were reported.
The road remains closed on Tuesday morning to facilitate a technical examination of the scene by Garda forensic investigators.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, who were travelling in the area between 12an and 12.30am are to make this footage available to gardai.
