A person has been taken to hospital following an incident in Downpatrick on Monday morning.

Emergency services were tasked to the scene at The Grove Shopping Centre on Market Street in the town at around 11.19am.

A police spokesperson said the incident related to a concern for safety.

In a statement, a Northern Ireland Ambulance service spokesperson said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 11:19 on Monday 13th January following reports of an incident in the Market Street Area, Downpatrick.

“NIAS despatched one Emergency Ambulance and one Rapid Response Vehicle to the incident.

“Following initial assessment and treatment at scene, one patient was taken to Ulster Hospital by ambulance.”
