Love Island All Stars has made its highly-anticipated return to television screens, but it hasn’t taken long for fans to express their dissatisfaction with the show. The popular reality series premiered on ITV2 on Monday (13 January), with familiar faces like Gabby Allen, Scott Thomas, India Reynolds, Luca Bish, and Curtis Pritchard re-entering the villa in pursuit of romance.

Despite initial excitement for the second season of All Stars, viewers quickly took to social media to voice their discontent. The primary concern among fans was the age of certain contestants, with some arguing they were too old to be participating in the show.

One viewer tweeted: “is this love island for aunties and uncles ? #loveisland,” while another remarked: “who’s idea was it to bring 40yr old marcel back? ? send that pensioner home to his kid #LoveIsland.”

Other fans echoed these sentiments, with one stating: “34 years old and on Love Island is crazy,” and another commented: “There should be an age limit on Love Island because for what reason are you here at 30+”.

This season’s All Stars lineup features Kaz Crossley, Luca Bish, Marcel Sommerville, India Reynolds, Scott Thomas, Olivia Hawkins, Gabby Allen, Curtis Pritchard, Ronnie Vint, Catherine Agbaje, Elma Pazar, and Nas Majeed. Maya Jama returns as host, following her debut on the show last year, reports Wales Online.

This marks the return of All Stars for its second series, following the debut season in January 2023 which saw Tom Clare and Molly Smith crowned winners. The couple has remained together since their victory.

The upcoming series is expected to be filled with tension, particularly with the reunion of ex-partners Gabby and Marcel in the villa. The two initially paired up during the third series when Gabby made a dramatic entrance as a bombshell.

However, their real-life relationship ended after a year due to allegations of Marcel’s infidelity while on holiday. Marcel went on to get married but has since divorced, leading him to return to the villa.

Upon his return, Marcel confessed: “I thought that I’d completed love and found my happily ever after but the universe had a different plan. Somehow every time my life’s at a crossroads, I’ve got the opportunity to do Love Island. So I thought, why not? “.

Love Island All Stars airs every night on ITV2 and ITVX at 9pm
