CARNEY CORONATION?

We Liberals love a coronation. Mark Carney is likely to be the next prime minister of Canada. He’s also likely to lose the next election, badly. In 1958, Lester B. Pearson lost, badly. Five years later, he was PM. Pearson rebuilt the Liberal Party with competence and humility as his cornerstones. He took his time, forged a progressive and popular platform, and allowed the government to accumulate grievances. Mark Carney, should he win and then lose, should come back following the Pearson precedent.

(It is entirely plausible that scenario plays out)

JUST LIKE TRUMP

If Pierre Poilievre becomes prime minister, he will spend all his time bowing down to Donald Trump, so he won’t be able to get any work done. Poilievre is a sad Trump wannabe, which is a disgrace. There’ll be a lot of butt-kissing just to please the dictator Trump — or should I say Elon Musk. Isn’t he really the president of the U.S.?

(Oh Helen, your Trump Derangement Syndrome needs a reality check. Poilievre will show leadership and strength, not weakness like Trudeau)

WHO CREATED THIS MESS?

Justin Trudeau was the first Canadian to refer to Canada as a “state” and he needs to own it rather than saying, “There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States.” I recall that shortly after winning the 2015 election, Trudeau declared that Canada was the world’s first “postnational state.” I remember wondering what in the world he meant. So, Trudeau is responsible for the kerfuffle that has now developed with Trump wanting to make Canada America’s 51st state.

(He has said so many idiotic things it is hard to keep count. But to be sure, his pathetic leadership has put Canada in this position)

CHANNEL REAGAN

Sadly, Trump’s inflammatory remarks with respect to Greenland, Panama and Canada, whether serious or simply negotiating tactics, will only serve to embolden Russia and China, authoritarian countries with illegal territorial ambitions. Please, President -elect Trump, try acting more presidential. Channel Ronald Reagan.

(He needs to dial it back — a lot)
