News presenter Piers Morgan keeps one unusual ingredient in his fridge designed to help with health and diet, according to nutritionist Gabriela Peacock. The food and health expert took a look through Morgan’s kitchen to see what he eats when he is at home with wife Celia Walden and daughter Elise, 13.
Piers and Celia spoke to Hello! magazine about their health and diet routine. Gabriela found that, unsurprisingly, their fridge is packed with dairy products as well as oat milk and plenty of fruits and vegetables.
But Gabriela also found a bottle of bone broth, which she says is ‘amazing’ for health. Bone broth is a nutrient-rich liquid made by simmering animal bones and connective tissues with water, vegetables, and sometimes herbs and spices for an extended period, typically 12-48 hours.
Bone broth is often promoted for its potential health benefits, though scientific evidence is still evolving. It is reported to be good for joint health, skin health, immune support and hydration.
Piers said he is happy with his diet, and believes he is healthy, adding: “I don’t look in the mirror and go: ‘Oh my God, this is awful, get on a crash diet immediately.’ I see Brad Pitt staring back at me.”
But the fridge isn’t all healthy as Piers also likes high-sugar energy drinks, red wine and pork pies. Piers said: “I would rather take my chances with the Grim Reaper and go out on a Lucozade-pork pie bang!”
Piers recently quit alcohol for seven months after contracting Covid. In July 2021, he contracted the virus after attending the Euro 2020 final, despite being fully vaccinated. He experienced symptoms such as a strong fever, violent coughing, chills, and sneezing fits, which left him exhausted and concerned about his health.
He says the virus left him with a changed sense of taste, prompting the recent alcohol rule. But he started drinking again, adding: “If you don’t put wonderful French wine by the gallon into your body, or eat fabulous French cheese, you could actually be really nutritionally fit. The problem is you die of boredom.”
Celia, a journalist, novelist, and critic known for her work with The Daily Telegraph, Glamour, GQ, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar has written books, including her debut novel “Harm’s Way” (2008), the memoir “Babysitting George” (2011), and thrillers like “Payday” and “The Square”
Piers Morgan recently announced he is to leave Rupert Murdoch’s media giant News UK to focus on growing his show on YouTube. The broadcaster, 59, who is a former editor of the Daily Mirror and the Murdoch-owned News Of The World, has struck a deal to give him ownership of his Uncensored media brand.
Morgan is buying the brand, which has 3.6 million YouTube subscribers, through his production company Wake Up Productions. He is looking to grow the channel in the US and other countries around the world.
The deal will see News UK, which publishes The Sun and The Times, as well as being behind Times Radio and Talk TV, retain a share of the Uncensored show’s revenues until 2029. Morgan said: “I have had a great time working back at News and am delighted that we will continue to be partners.
“Owning the brand allows my team and I the freedom to focus exclusively on building Uncensored into a standalone business, editorially and commercially, and in time, widening it from just me and my content. It’s clear from the recent US election that YouTube is an increasingly powerful and influential media platform, and Uncensored is one of the fastest-growing shows on it in the world.”
Morgan rejoined News UK in 2021, writing columns for The Sun and the New York Post. Uncensored was broadcast on Talk TV and saw him interview people including Donald Trump, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin Spacey.
He had previously been a presenter on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, but he left in controversy after comments he made about Meghan Markle.
