Bristol City Women have confirmed that their FA Cup clash with Arsenal has been rescheduled having been postponed this weekend.

The Vixens were due to make the trip to North London to face the WSL side on Sunday January 12, but the game was called off on Saturday afternoon due to a frozen pitch.

Steve Kirby’s side will now make the trip to the Mangata Pay UK Stadium (or Meadow Park) on Wednesday January 29, with the game against Renee Slegers’ side now set to kick off at 7:45pm.

City are yet to play in this season’s edition of the FA Cup and are yet to face Arsenal this season having been relegated from the WSL last season whilst under the management of Lauren Smith.

When the two sides did meet last term, it was the Gunners who came out on top, winning the game in North London 5-0 having already beaten the Reds 2-1 at Ashton Gate earlier in the campaign. A brace from Katie McCabe either side of an impressive header from Rachel Furness was enough to secure all three points for Jonas Eidvall’s side in the West Country.

The final two weeks of January now appear to be important for the Vixens as they look to pull ahead in the race for promotion this term. Kirby’s side return to action after the winter break this Sunday when they welcome London City Lionesses to Ashton Gate, before making the trip to the Midlands to face table-toppers Birmingham City the week after in what could prove to be a crucial game in this season’s title race. January is then wrapped up with the FA Cup clash with Arsenal as the Robins look to cause an upset.

Kirby and the recruitment team at Ashton Gate have already moved to strengthen their ranks this month ahead of the second half of the season with the permanent addition of Lia O’Leary and the loan signing of Jess Simpson.
