This year’s Brigit Festival is celebrating women of all ages and from all walks of life, the creative producer has said.
The fourth edition of the weekend festival will return from Friday January 31 and will feature its largest programme of events to date.
Entitled Brigit: Dublin City Celebrating Women, the festival will have more than 90 thematic events taking place across the city, offering a diverse celebration of women’s contributions to culture, society and history.
Founded in 2022 with the support of the Lord Mayor’s Office and led by Dublin City Council, the festival honours the Celtic goddess Brigit, a powerful symbol of inspiration, healing, wisdom, poetry, magic, smithcraft, protection, fire, and earth.

Through a vibrant city-wide programme, it highlights the contributions of women, both past and present, amplifying their profound impact on society and marking the arrival of spring with a focus on their enduring strength and transformative roles.
Aimee van Wylick, creative producer of the event, said: “We have launched the programme for the fourth edition of Brigit, Dublin City Celebrating Women – it’s a Dublin City initiative.
“It’s a really special event to mark St Brigit’s Day. We take the inspiration from the Celtic goddess, going back into pagan times, and then looking at Brigit through a contemporary lens.
“We are celebrating women of all ages, of all walks of life. The programme itself is inspired by all the different elements Brigit stood for, like healing, feminism, rebellion, poetry, all those elements are woven throughout the programme.
“We have over 90 events on this year so it is growing every year, and some of our highlights includes the parade, which is a new element that we kicked off last year.
“The parade will run on Sunday February 2.
“It will be a lovely gathering of women, different community groups, and we have some newly commissioned designs for this parade.
“We have the Imbolc Fair for all ages, where you can do all different types of activities, from flower crown making or making Brigit Cross, walking tours and workshops, so lots to do.”
Lord Mayor of Dublin Emma Blain said: “I am thrilled to launch the programme for Brigit 2025: Dublin City Celebrating Women.
“Brigit offers us a fantastic opportunity to honour the immense contributions and achievements of Irish women, past and present, and to celebrate the lasting impact they have on our society.
“With an expanded programme for 2025, we’re excited to present over 80+ events that highlight the fierce, wise, and creative spirit of the Celtic goddess Brigit.
“I am confident this year’s celebration will be the biggest and best yet, showcasing the rich vibrancy and inclusivity of our great city.”
The programme offers a range of events that celebrate creativity, culture, and the enduring legacy of women’s contributions.
From Friday January 31 and across the entire Bank Holiday weekend, Dubliners and visitors will have the opportunity to experience a wealth of events, from fairs to workshops, talks to performances and more in celebration of Brigit.
