Despite having two Netflix films based on his life, Dave Fishwick, the real-life Bank of Dave, remains grounded thanks to his wife.

The 53-year-old, who was portrayed by James Bond star Rory Kinnear in a film that changed his life, told Lancashire Live that his wife Nicky keeps him level-headed.

He said: “We have been together over 30 years and I was down yesterday on television and then I was with Netflix and I met half a dozen people from the telly.

“I come home and said to Nicky, ‘I’ve met Simon Cowell or I’ve met this guy or that lady’ or somebody mega famous off the telly.

“And she will say, ‘never mind all that nonsense, Dave, do you want corned beef hash or cottage pie for your tea’. And it grounds you immediately.”

Dave, who has two children and two grandchildren with Nicky, has previously stated that they plan to give away 90% of their wealth after death. And promoting the sequel Bank of Dave 2: The Loan Ranger, the self-made millionaire arrived at the movie premiere in one of the minibuses that contributed to his fortune.

Due to bad weather, he had to wear wellies and shovel snow out of the way, adding: “I think I am the only person in the world to go to a premier in a bus with my wellies on and shovel.”

“And I jumped out and I was shovelling snow off the front, I put Nicky over my shoulder and carried her in.”

Documentary filmmaker Dave, who portrays an Italian-American gangster in Bank of Dave 2, returns to the screen with this “truish” tale. In it, he (played by Kinnear) combats payday loan firms upon discovering that locals were facing extortionate interest rates of up to 5,000%.
