I have a simply question; Do we want our children to be dim?

If so you will be in favour of what are truly shocking changes planned by Labour aimed at reigning in school academies in England which have pulled our children up from 27th in the world to 7th by paying great teachers more and focusing on maths and science.

The Welsh government, who I feel sure will be thrown out in the Senedd elections in 2026 by Reform, refused to have academies in their country because it meant a watering down their control of schools and the young minds of the pupils.

The effect? The latest global polling shows Wales children continued to be below the OECD average (around 27th) and bottom of the performance table for the UK, miles behind England which was the best.

Kelvin MacKenzie has hit out at Bridget Philippson’s Schools Bill

GB News

I guarantee that England’s premier position will change for the worst in England when lefty Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson and her handmaidens in the National Education Union push though a Schools Bill which has its second reading today.

There are two real shockers for England’s academies which now represent over 50% of all schools. The first is that the academies will no longer be able to set their own pay rates. The best receive 5.6% more than they would working for a bog standard school producing poor results. So it should be.

The unions hate this. The idea that somebody who puts more energy into their classes and gets more out of the pupils should be rewarded is anathema to the union bullies. They love the idea that rubbish teachers a a) can’t be fired and b) get paid the same pay as the great teachers.

Phillipson’s second act is to take away the right of English academies to set their own curriculum. Over the years these hugely successful schools have been focussing more on science and maths (where the money and the work is) rather than the subjects where there is little demand . The arts for instance.

The effect has been great. Between 2009 and 2022 the English children taking science went from 29th in the world to 7th. An astonishing achievement.

According to the Institute of Fiscal studies the gap is now so big that deprived children in England do better than the average child in Wales.

The reality is that education will go backwards under Labour’s plan. We will become Wales. How awful. Since Labour will be kicked out by the voters at the earliest opportunity (and Phillipson according to the polls will be among the first to go) they are getting in their nasty Lefty approach in as early as possible.

Phillipson had a classic riposte; ‘’ I will not stand by while some young people fall through the cracks, left without a good education.’’

That is tosh. Under her changes, and you know they’re wrong as the NES supports them, an entire generation of young people will fall through the cracks.
