A sushi restaurant which opened in The Galleries in 2023 has announced it is moving to a new Bristol location before the planned redevelopment of the Broadmead shopping centre.

Niji can currently be found at Unit 17, on the top level of The Galleries and serves up a vast menu of Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi. It currently scores 4.9 stars out of five on Google.

The restaurant took to its Instagram page on January 7 to say: “We are excited to announce that we are moving soon! Swipe left to see our new location on the map – it is less than five minutes walk from where we currently are.

“Opening date is still to be confirmed, but we are looking at early March for now. Dinner and new menu items will then be available. Stay tuned!

“We will also be closed for more days to allow preparation for the move. Starting from next week (13/1/2025) we will open only from Thursday to Sunday. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

Niji’s new address will be at Union Gate, on the corner of Union Street and Silver Street. Previous venues at this address have included The Mana House, Atomic Diner, Steam and Bella Pizza. Taking to the comments section, fans and customers of the Japanese restaurant were quick to share their excitement at the news, with many calling it their ‘favourite place for sushi’ in Bristol.

One comment read: “New year new venue.” While a second said: “Right by my gym! Perfect post workout food!”

And a third declared: “I’m so excited.” Within the comments section, the team at Niji also confirmed that they would remain a dog friendly establishment and that they will have later opening hours at their new venue.
