Northern Ireland Under-21s international JJ McKiernan says he is pleased to finally secure a loan move for the rest of the season after joining Burton Albion on a short-term deal.

The 22-year-old, who is currently on the books at Lincoln City, has agreed a switch to the Brewers until the end of the campaign and could make his debut as early as tomorrow against Stevenage.

Having started his career at Watford and after a loan spell at Eastleigh, McKiernan got his move to Lincoln off the back of an impressive season with Morecambe last year, making the switch to League One in the summer.

The Southampton-born midfielder has struggled for game time with the Imps, making 17 appearances this season and scoring just one goal, and now he gets the chance to impress with Burton in the second half of the campaign.

“I’m really pleased to get it done, I’ve been looking forward to it as it’s been something I’ve wanted to do for a couple of months now, so I’m happy to get out (on loan) and get started,” commented McKiernan.
