Nick Frost’s brainchild Get Away will be coming to TV screens on Friday, with the horror-comedy film also starring the Shaun of the Dead actor.

The 52-year-old joined co-stars Aisling Bea, Sebastian Croft and Maisie Ayres recently for the film’s premiere, where they detailed their experience of shooting the Sweden-set comedy slasher.

The film details the gruesome story of a family holiday which goes terribly wrong.

A synopsis reads: “A British family, the Smiths are en route to their annual summer family vacation.

“This year, they are visiting Svalta, a remote Swedish island, to celebrate the festival of Karantan [Swedish for quarantine], a festival that includes a gory eight-hour play that is performed every 10 years.

“On their way to Svalta, Susan recounts the island’s dark history of cannibalism, including a notorious incident involving English naval officers over 200 years ago.

“Prior to boarding the ferry to the island, the family faces warnings at a café and – while on the ferry – they have a strange encounter with Johan, a man who has just been released from prison.

“Upon arrival to Svalta, they clash with hostile locals. The antagonism towards the family is led by Klara, the matriarch of the island.”

Frost has also been careful to hide the major twist he hopes viewers won’t see coming.

Speaking to GB News and other publications, Frost explained: “I had the twist first and I spent two years hiding it. The twist was something I enjoyed trying to do.”

The Hot Fuzz star seems to have high hopes though, admitting he already has ideas for a potential sequel.

“If we do a sequel or a prequel we will explore the backstory a bit more and how they got to where they are,” he commented, talking about the Smith family.

“I felt like it was using two different sections on the brain,” Frost added when asked about writing and starring in the film.

“You know when you have a full meal but still have room for desert? Essentially that’s what it felt like,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Bea, 40, revealed at one point how a behind-the-scenes incident had left her fearing for her co-star’s life.

As the cast reflected on the time they spent together, Bea admitted that Maisie Ayres, who plays her and Frost’s teenage daughter Jessie, left her worried.

“Aisling would cook me dinner sometimes,” the 21-year-old shared, but it seems the gesture had actually come from a place of concern rather than friendship.

“I will say, the degree to which Maisie can’t cook… You really don’t know how to cook,” the Irish actress admitted.

She emphasised: “Really, I feared she might die.”

The cast also reflected on how the horror was filmed in a picturesque Finnish location Frost described as “beautiful”.

Horror fans will have to wait until Friday to find out the huge twist, with the film hitting Sky Cinema and NOW just before the weekend.
