One rude driver’s actions made a Maryland motorist half a million dollars richer.

The Glen Burnie, Maryland, resident was returning home from out of town two days before Christmas when he was cut off by a “rude” driver.

He noted the vehicle’s license plate number and when he stopped to buy lottery tickets, he decided to veer off from his usual picks and played “a combination of the driver’s license plate number on 10 Pick 5 tickets,” according to Maryland Lottery officials.

The unidentified man, who works as a technician, said, “I figure if you’re going to play, you should play big.”

The following day, he scanned the tickets and was shocked to discover he had won $50,000 on each ticket, for a grand total of $500,000.

The lucky player — and driver — told his mother, who was happy for him, according to the lottery.
