The Masked Singer was plunged into disarray when a celebrity reportedly “stormed off” the stage after being eliminated from the contest.

The popular ITV series kicked off its latest season last weekend, featuring a lineup of incognito celebs showcasing their vocal talents in the opening episodes. However, the next reveal is reported to have followed the contestant’s abrupt exit from the stage, evidently upset about their departure from the show.

Viewers can expect to witness the “dramatic scenes” during Saturday night’s episode, which will see Pufferfish, Bear, Toad in the Hole, Wolf, and Bush take to the stage once more. According to reports, the yet-to-be-disclosed celebrity is a “world-renowned star”.

An insider commented that the situation was “absolutely bonkers,” highlighting that typically, the celebrity with the fewest votes each week promptly removes their mask following the announcement. They then engage with the panel and perform once again, this time unmasked.

The source divulged to the Sun: “But instead, this character turned around and shuffled off stage, which was hilarious in their costume obviously – but we were all stunned. We knew something was going on because we saw lots of to-ing and fro-ing with crew before the person eventually came back on stage,” reports the Mirror.

According to the source, this unexpected turn of events added “even more” suspense for the audience eager to discover the identity of the mysterious performer.

The publication reported that insiders revealed showrunners had to coax a celebrity into completing their performance, while host Joel Dommett kept the audience entertained. The source claimed that the contestant was “basically gutted” about exiting the competition “so soon” in the new series.
