The executive producer of Love Island has disclosed that Tommy Fury was approached to feature in the upcoming All Stars 2 series, which is set to commence next week.

The boxer became unexpectedly single when Molly-Mae Hague ended their five-year relationship, announcing the surprising news to her followers in August last year through a post she ‘never thought she’d write.’

In an unexpected turn of events, months after parting ways, the reality TV and social media personalities were spotted sharing an embrace, hinting at reigniting their relationship on New Year’s Eve. The Mirror has now learned that following his breakup with Molly, ITV chiefs reached out to Tommy in hopes he would join the roster of memorable ex-islanders seeking love once more in the All Stars villa.

When questioned about the possibility of having one of the show’s most notable contestants return to the villa, executive producer Mike Spence confirmed that Tommy had been invited to be part of the cast. He elaborated: “I don’t know if we approached Molly but we do ask everyone who is single. We make the call, invite them to audition and then pick.”

Tommy, who was also speculated to appear in the previous season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, declined the proposition to rejoin the Love Island villa. Recent photos of him kissing Molly Mae, with whom he has a daughter named Bambi, seem to affirm they are back together.

Producer Spence humorously remarked that he wouldn’t mind seeing the intermittently coupled Molly and Tommy return to the series together, saying: “If Molly and Tommy would like to come back here together we’d love them.”

The previous season of the spin-off show saw former flames Molly and Callum enter the villa as singles, with Molly eventually winning the show alongside Tom Clare, reports the Mirror.

Spence chuckled at the thought of the duo’s surprise appearance on the show, commenting: “What if Molly and Tommy turned up on night one!” He continued in jest, “That would be interesting. We’ll get Bambi here too. We can build a creche.”

Molly is poised to reveal the ‘true’ story behind her relationship with Tommy in her upcoming series Molly Mae: Behind It All. Initially intended as an expose on their split, sources now indicate the series will instead feature their reconciliation.

Both Molly and Tommy are set to feature in the documentary, which is scheduled for release on Prime Video next week.

In the trailer, Molly shares her feelings candidly: “All I ever wanted was to get married. Suddenly, overnight, every part of my life changed. The last couple of months has been like the worst couple of months of my life. I am angry with him. I am very hurt. Sometimes it just really hits you that I’m in this alone now.”

Following his breakup with Molly, rumours swirled that Tommy had been unfaithful. Addressing the painful gossip, Tommy described the allegations as ‘heartbreaking’ and expressed gratitude towards those who supported him, stating: “The ‘false’ allegations about me have been horrendous, thank you to everybody who has stood by me through this.”

Love Island: All Stars returns Monday 13th January at 9pm on ITV2.
