The Traitors fans were treated to another nail-biting episode last night (January 8), which saw the shock comeback of three contestants who had selflessly bowed out in the season’s opening.

In the premiere of the third series on January 1, fans watched as Jack, Fozia, and Alexander chose to disembark from the train en route to Ardross Castle, giving up their place in the competition to boost the prize pot. Yet, in an unexpected turn of events during last night’s episode, they re-entered the game aboard a ‘rail replacement’ carriage.

In a brutal twist, it was revealed that only two places on the show were up for grabs, meaning one of the three would have to leave the show for a second time.

Throughout the mission, the contenders were tasked with collecting gold coins to lower the two individuals they wished to bring into the fold, with the first pair to reach the ground securing their return. Out of the trio, it was Fozia and Alexander who garnered the group’s favour, leaving Jack suspended and consequently eliminated from the contest once again.

Post-episode, Jack, a 25-year-old landscaper, confessed that he was ‘holding back tears’ while confined in the cage, reports Wales Online.

“I quite liked swinging in the cage up there. I’m very much a Leo in that I quite like being the centre of attention. Then very quickly it became less fun and as every second went by, it got less and less and less fun. And then I was out of the competition,” he divulged.

He went on: “I was fully holding back tears because I’d put my heart and soul into getting there. I know it’s so unrealistic to go into a competition with the mindset of, I’m going to win this but, but you’re in that bubble at that time. You’ve got to be in it to win it. You’ve got to have a that attitude. Otherwise, what’s the point in taking part? Honestly and thoroughly, I believed I was going to win.”

Before joining the game on The Traitors, Jack had revealed his aspirations to play as a Traitor. Despite his job on the show being listed as a landscaper, he ‘secretly trained’ as an actor. His acting credits include a starring role in an ad for the Luton Airport Express as well as the Amazon Prime film, The Apocalypse Box.

Opening up to the BBC, Jack shared: “I have secretly trained as an actor. I moved to London when I was 18, moved away from Yorkshire and I didn’t really tell too many of my family and friends that that’s what I was going to do, because I think there’s a bit of a stigma around it in the area that I live in, people think ‘Oh he wants to go off and chase the acting dream.’

“So, I think I’m used to being put into situations which are hostile and unfamiliar. I think I can kind of play it a little bit dumb, maybe act like the ditzy gardener and landscaper who secretly has his own agenda, and hopefully a couple of acting skills to back that up.”

The Traitors continues tonight at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer
