Naga Munchetty appeared slightly flustered on Thursday’s episode of BBC Breakfast as she delved into the new range of stamps being rolled out by The Royal Mail to celebrate classic TV moments.

Her colleague, Nina Warhurst, highlighted the release of 12 collectable stamps honouring the much-loved series, The Vicar of Dibley, prompting a nostalgia-driven conversation.

As clips of the stamps graced the screen, Nina noted the unexpected passage of time since the show first aired. She remarked: “Looking at that Naga, it’s the kind of show where I go, ‘Oh, it was only a few years ago’. But no, it was such a long time ago!”

Discussing the fleeting nature of time, Naga made a confession about their fellow presenter, Carol Kirkwood. She admitted: “We’re already at the time where we stop saying Happy New Year, apparently. I don’t think I’ve said it to Carol, though.”

Surprised by the revelation, Nina retorted: “Have you not?! Shame on you.”

In her defence, Naga asserted: “I don’t think so. I haven’t seen her!” Nina then suggested that a simple message to Carol would have sufficed, with Naga agreeing in hindsight.

When the segment was passed to the seasoned meteorologist, she confirmed that a Happy New Year message had indeed been passed along. She announced: “You did message me Naga! And Happy New Year again to you both.”

Following Carol’s update on the imminent drop in temperature, it seemed Naga finally recollected their earlier exchange, reports the Express.

She commented: “I did see the message! I checked, and we did send a message very early on New Year’s Day.” Nina joked: “I’m sure you’re not the only one who can’t remember everything about the morning of New Year’s Day.”

Naga took the lighthearted jibe in stride, smiling as Nina chuckled and the show continued. Nina was filling in for regular co-host Charlie Stayt, and the all-female presenting duo received praise from viewers on social media.

One Twitter user commented: “Nina and Naga, now there’s a very nice two some indeed, need to be presenting more often together, tbh. More anchor women presenting these shows on a regular basis would be to one’s liking, marvellous, neat and pleasant in fact.”

Another fan wrote: “Hi Naga and Nina. What a wonderful surprise to see you two lovely ladies on the red sofa this morning. Thank you for bringing us the news and have a great day ahead. Love our BBC.”

BBC Breakfast continues weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
