An interactive Fawlty Towers-style dining experience is taking up residency at a hotel in Bristol for just four days from next month. The experience sees audiences enjoy a three course meal and five star comedy, with the show having been touring the UK and internationally since 2008.
A loving tribute to the BBC classic TV series, the show has been seen by more than a million people worldwide, since its very first show at the Ridges Hotel in Brisbane on April 24, 1997. It’s appeared in 43 countries, toured to more than 1,000 venues, employed 56 actors per season, and put on around 400 shows a year across the UK.
Kicking off on February 27, guests can be part of the action as Basil, Sybil and Manuel serve up ‘mayhem on a plate’ alongside a three course meal and two hours of comedy at the Novotel Bristol Centre. The residency will last until March 2 and ticket prices range depending on the time and day you book – from £62.50 for Sunday lunch, to £67.50 for Thursday dinner or Saturday lunch, and £71.50 for dinner on Friday or Saturday – you can buy yours here.
The show was devised by Alison Pollard Mansergh, Andrew Foreman and others, and the Bristol experience will see Rob Langston play the role of Basil, Nerine Skinner in the role of Sybil, and Ben Hood as Manuel.
According to the event’s official description: “When the audience become diners in the ‘Faulty Towers’ restaurant, pretty much anything can happen – because 70 per cent of the show is improvised. The fun starts as guests wait to be seated.
“It then hurtles along in a two-hour tour de force of gags and shambolic service as Basil, Sybil and Manuel serve a ‘70s-style 3-course meal together with a good dollop of mayhem. Expect the unexpected!”
Faulty Towers the Dining Experience is now the longest running immersive production in the UK, the longest-running Fawlty Towers production, and the longest running show based on a TV series, in London. It is also the longest-running Fawlty Towers production of any kind running worldwide.
