The highly-anticipated second season of SAS Rogue Heroes is finally here, and viewers are already hooked. The show, created by Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight, traces the origins of the British Secret Air Service during the Second World War and features Connor Swindells, Jack O’Connell, Sofia Boutella and Dominic West.
The new series resumes from the dramatic cliffhanger of the first season, where David Stirling (Swindells) is taken captive, and since its release on January 1st, fans have been taking to social media to share their views.
One viewer shared on X (formerly Twitter): “Binge watched SAS: Rogue Heroes S2 last night. Only intended to watch 2 eps so I could stretch it out over a few days but it was SO GOOD! Different to S1 but still very good.”
Other viewers compared the latest episodes to the initial series, commenting: “SAS: ROGUE HEROES might be the best thing on tele right now. It’s more grown up than the first go but has the charm and fun” and “The second series of SAS Rogue heroes is as good as the first, the best thing that the BBC have done in years – there’s got to be a third series!”
The season’s poignant opening sequence is a major talking point among online comments. In this scene, Paddy Mayne, denied leave to attend his father’s funeral, smashes a table in frustration, sparking a violent brawl with military police in Cairo. “Jesus, the opener of SAS Rogue Heroes S2 is brutal. Must watch television”, one fan penned.
Just like the first series, the second season of SAS Rogue Heroes has already achieved a flawless 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been highly praised by critics. The show’s star, Connor Swindells, has been singled out for his portrayal of David Stirling, who experiences a significant change while in captivity.
Both series one and two of SAS Rogue Heroes can now be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
