Paul Ainsworth, a Michelin-starred chef, and his wife Emma, have taken over The St Enodoc Hotel, an iconic hotel in Rock, Cornwall. The luxurious venue is known for its stunning location, which offers views of the Camel Estuary, as well as its 21 rooms, restaurant, and beauty facilities.
Being the sole hotel in Rock, this establishment provides a tranquil retreat for guests within walking distance of beaches, including Daymer Bay, reports Cornwall Live. Paul expressed his satisfaction with the purchase: “Emma and I have long admired The St Enodoc and are absolutely delighted to become its new owners and custodians.
“This landmark hotel is set in a stunning location right on our doorstep. We are excited to welcome this wonderful hotel to The Ainsworth Collection and further build on its legacy.
“We have no immediate plans to change the style of the hotel – our priority is ensuring a seamless employment transition for the St Enodoc team while welcoming them to the Ainsworth Collection family, to get to know our new business, and to create a warm welcome for guests.
“We can’t wait to start our journey with this lovely hotel and commence the next chapter in St Enodoc’s story.”
The couple is well-known for their culinary achievements in the West Country, particularly North Cornwall, where they operate several establishments, including the renowned Paul Ainsworth at No6, Caff Rojano, Padstow Townhouse, Ci Ci’s Bar, and The Mariners.
Earlier this year, one of Ainsworth’s establishments in Cornwall was recognised as one of the finest. The Mariners, located in Rock, secured a spot in the top three on Estrella Damm’s list of the UK’s best gastropubs.
In July 2024, Paul released his first cookbook, titled ‘For the Love of Food’. He is a familiar face on popular TV shows such as Saturday Kitchen, Sunday Brunch and James Martin’s Saturday Morning, among other appearances.
