A man was arrested at Connolly Station in Dublin after a report of a male passenger in possession of a suspected firearm.
Around 6.20pm, gardaí got a report of a male passenger onboard the 3.05pm Sligo to Connolly commuter rail service as it was approaching the Dublin station.
The man is not alleged to have made any threat towards any passenger onboard.
Gardaí deployed a large-scale response, including several Garda Armed Response Units.
One male, an Irish citizen aged in his 50s, was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

The suspected firearm has now been seized and a full technical examination will be conducted to determine its status under Irish legislation.
Services in and out of Connolly Station were suspended, with commuters told they to leave the station and no one allowed to enter.
“To ensure full public safety, gardaí evacuated Connolly Station and conducted a security sweep of both the station and the train on which this person was a passenger,” said a garda statement.
“There are no ongoing public safety issues due to this incident and the station has now reopened.”
A spokesperson for Irish Rail said: “A report was received of a security incident of an individual who was travelling on the 15.05hrs Sligo to Connolly train.
” As the train was approaching Connolly, we alerted gardaí who requested trains to be suspended through Connolly while they attended.
“Trains were suspended from 18.30hrs to 19.15hrs approx as a result. Gardaí attended and removed a person from the train.
“The station reopened at 19.15hrs with the exception of platform 5, which subsequently opened at 19.30,” they added.
Trains are now back running, although significant delays are still expected.
In an update on X, Irish Rail said there would be delays of up to 50 minutes on services, which would ease over time.
Earlier this evening, Translink said to allow for possible disruption to Enterprise services.
