The Calgary Flames and Los Angeles Kings won’t be hitting the ice Wednesday night at Crypto.com Arena.
As wildfires rage in the Los Angeles area, the NHL has postponed this Pacific Division matchup. It will be rescheduled for a later date.
“The thoughts of the entire NHL family are with the Kings, hockey fans and the people of the Los Angeles area during this difficult time,” the league said in a statement.
According to the Los Angeles Times, two people have died and more than 1,000 homes, businesses and other structures have already been destroyed by the devastating fires.
“Our hearts are with our entire Los Angeles community,” the Kings said in a release. “We appreciate the hard working first responders who are diligently working to contain the fire and protect our community.
“We appreciate the league’s support in keeping our fans, staff, and players safe.”
