After a dramatic departure from the BBC series, a former Traitors contestant was congratulated by the show’s host after sharing an exciting life update.

The latest action-packed episode aired on Wednesday (January 8) saw the return of multiple contestants alongside the banishment of another loyal player in the wake of the first Traitor’s exposure at the Round Table.

This came shortly after Armani was outed as a Traitor and the group was later shocked to find Maia, a Faithful and Armani’s sister, had met a grisly fate of her own. This twist led viewers to speculate that this was a strategic move by the Traitors to frame Freddie, who had previously faced suspicion.

Maia later featured on The Traitors Uncloaked, the show’s official visual podcast to share her experiences and also confirmed some joyous news. Host and comedian Ed Gamble was quick to congratulate her, reports Wales Online.

Joined by her sister and Kas, another exiled Faithful, the delightful announcement popped up in their chat. Ed shared the happy revelation with the audience saying: “Maia and Kas are here with us now. And Maia, you’re having a baby congratulations!”

Social media was abuzz with reactions from some fans, with one viewer exclaiming: “MAIA’S PREGNANT?” accompanied by celebratory emojis. Maia, a 25-year-old from Essex, shared her aspirations before entering the show, stating that winning the cash prize would help her achieve her dream of putting down a deposit for a house.

She expressed her desire for a tranquil life, saying: “My plan, just in general with life is that I kind of want to disappear off the face of the earth. I want to live in the countryside, I want to have a very quiet life. And then if I have anything left over, I’ve got a lot of debts to sort out, and then I would go on a nice little holiday. I’ve always wanted to go to Bali, because of Eat, Pray, Love.”

Already embracing her role as a full-time mum to her two year old daughter Ava, Maia revealed that the financial pressures of parenting played a part in her decision to join The Traitors. She explained the costly reality of childcare, saying: “My daughter is going to nursery soon and that’s expensive. It’s like having a mortgage, so that was also a motivator.”

During her appearance on Uncloaked, Maia opened up about why she had her suspicions about Freddie being a Traitor. Despite her strong hunches, she was taken aback upon discovering they were misplaced.

Apologising to Freddie, she admitted: “I’m sorry Freddie! I really thought it was Freddie. When we got off the raft, I was confused why he got off. I got off because I was rubbish.” Her fellow panellists then pointed out that Freddie had his own struggles during the rowing challenge.

The Traitors continues tomorrow at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
