- Porsche is introducing a more-powerful 911 Carrera S for the 2025 model year
- It features a twin-turbo 3.0L making 473 hp, and does zero to 100 km/h in 3.3 secs
- Options include carbon-ceramic brakes and rear-steer sports suspension
Porsche early January announced the 2025 911 Carrera S, which will slip into the lineup between the Carrera and Carrera GTS. It will be available as a coupe or a drop-top cabriolet. It uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0L six-cylinder boxer engine making 473 horsepower – 30 horses more than the last Carrera S – and with 390 lb-ft of torque, mated to an eight-speed automatic dual-clutch PDK transmission and with rear-wheel-drive.
The engine features new turbochargers and optimized charge-air cooling based on that of the previous-generation 911 Turbo, and it will take the new Carrera S from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 308 km/h (191 mph).
Standard equipment includes 20-inch front and 21-inch rear Carrera S wheels; sport exhaust system; and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, which isn’t available in the entry Carrera trim. The standard braking system comes from the Carrera GTS with red calipers, 408-mm front discs, and 380-mm rear discs; this can be swapped out for an optional Ceramic Composite Brake system. Also available is a PASM sports suspension with rear-wheel steering; and a 10-mm-lower ride height, now with optimized dampers and more direct steering for improved stability and handling.
Inside, the Carrera S coupe comes with two seats but can be optioned with folding rear seats that are included on the cabriolet. The standard leather interior comes in black, but can be optioned with contrasting stitching, and with a full leather package that adds cowhide to the side panels, seat base, and glove-box lid.
Orders are now open in Canada for the 2025 Carrera S, which starts at $159,700 for the coupe; and $174,000 for the cabriolet. Available options will include high-definition matrix LED headlights, Sport Chrono Package, and a lift system for the front axle.
