The demister button, usually identified by an icon of a windscreen with wavy lines above it, directs warm air onto the glass, speeding up the melting process. “This simple action can transform icy glass into slush, allowing for a swift and safe clean-up,” she added. “Remember, leaving even a small section of ice can create blind spots and result in dangerous situations on the road.”
The Highway Code requires drivers to maintain a clear windscreen at all times, and neglecting this can not only put lives in danger but potentially hit motorists with hefty fines. Should a motorist be found driving with limited visibility, they could be slapped with a £100 fixed penalty notice and three points on their driving licence, reports Devon Live.
