Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane has revealed he hopes to have three or four children with his wife Aisha Tamba as the couple celebrate their first wedding anniversary.

The Al-Nassr forward, 32, shared his family plans just as the pair marked one year since their Islamic ceremony in Dakar, Senegal.

Mane, who currently plays alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi Pro League, married Tamba when she was 18 years old in January 2024.

The couple’s relationship has drawn attention due to their 13-year age gap, though Tamba’s parents have been supportive of the union.

According to reports, Mane first met Tamba through family connections when she was 16, with her father revealing the initial encounter occurred during a family visit.

The marriage was agreed while Tamba was still at school, with the decision made to wait until she turned 18 to allow her to complete her studies.

Mane had been funding Tamba’s education at the all-girls Cabis school in Mbao, near Dakar, where she obtained her diploma with a passable distinction.

The couple share the same cultural background, both originating from the Casmance region of Senegal, and belong to the same Sosse ethnic group.

Speaking to Senepeopleplus, Mane shared his thoughts on having children: “Funny question.

“If it is just a choice, I would say 3 or 4. Except that it is God who decides and I will thank Him no matter what.”

When asked about the possibility of having even more children, the former Liverpool star responded with good humour.

“Maybe, you never know,” he said, before adding: “Whatever the number is, I will accept it.

“I am leaning more towards 3 or 4 and we will see about the rest.

“Speaking through a relative after her wedding, Tamba expressed her commitment to staying grounded despite her husband’s reported £650,000-a-week wage in Saudi Arabia.

“I am looking forward to my new life and I know that it will be very different,” she said.

“But I do not feel any pressure because Sadio’s fame and money will not change me.”

“I will remain a humble person committed to my faith,” Tamba added.

“I am a very down to earth person, this is how I was raised, and nothing will be different just because of this marriage.”
