Andi Peters had a tough time presenting his segment on Good Morning Britain after becoming visibly emotional live on-air. The show switched from Ed Balls and Susanna Reid to Andi, who was introducing a competition segment on the ITV programme.

However, as the broadcast went live, he found it hard to keep his composure following a heart-wrenching interview with a bereaved mother who lost her son Jamie due to the unavailability of a defibrillator.

The grieving mum is calling for police cars to carry the life-saving equipment and explained she has found purpose in life after Jamie’s organs were donated.

“The reason that we do what we do is because Jamie had signed the organ register three times in his short life. When he was 16, 17 and again just after his 18th birthday. And I was stood outside of Coventry hospital the morning after we lost Jamie and watched his lungs take off in a helicopter to go to Bristol,” the mum explained.

“Jamie actually saved five lives including the life of a baby girl on the night that we lost him. He was meant to save lives.”

Broadcasting from Edinburgh, Andi seemed teary-eyed as he addressed the viewers, admitting: “Slightly moved, I can’t lie,” while trying to hold back his tears.

The popular TV personality then proceeded to share details about Good Morning Britain’s latest cash prize competition, but his voice continued to waver and his eyes remained tearful.

“We’ve got an amazing price, we’re in Edinburgh. It’s £105,300. That’s the money we’re going to give away. It’s a huge amount of money, it could change your life,” Andi emotionally informed viewers, reports the Manchester Evening News.

He continued: “Take a look at Edinburgh, the sun is rising up this morning. Here, in this wonderful city. This competition is all about the phone, because if you win, I could be calling you live on the television, to let you know you’ve won the prize.”

Andi’s emotional moment came after GMB was interrupted by a breaking news announcement earlier during Tuesday’s show. A live broadcast from Downing Street was abruptly ended so that Ranvir Singh could share some news with viewers.
