With Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announcing his resignation earlier this week, Elon Musk is throwing his weight behind Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.

Musk, a vocal opponent of Trudeau’s, tweeted his support for Poilievre on Tuesday, sharing a number of tweets heralding the end of the Liberal Leader’s reign and Poilievre’s presumptive victory in Canada’s next election later this year.

In one video he shared, Poilievre is seen chewing on an apple as he confronts a reporter in B.C. “Another masterpiece,” Musk captioned the clip, which went viral around the world.

Back in 2023, Don Urquhart, a local newspaper editor in Oliver and Osoyoos, asked Poilievre about his strategy of taking a “populist pathway” to become Canada’s next leader.

“What does that mean?” Poilievre asked.

The reporter suggested Poilievre was “appealing to people’s more emotional levels, I would guess.”

Poilievre again asked what he meant by that and to give an example.

“Certainly you tap very strong ideological language quite frequently,” the reporter replied.

The exchange continued with the reporter unable to back up any of his claims, including a comparison he made between Poilievre and former U.S. president Donald Trump.

A lot of people would say that you’re simply taking a page out of the Donald Trump book, said Urquhart.

“A lot of people? Like which people would say that?” Poilievre fired back as he took a bite. “Give me the page … You must know somebody … I don’t know what you’re question is.”

Fox News described the back-and-forth as Poilievre batting down (a) reporter’s questions, while the Daily Mail described the war of words as the Conservative leader calmly tearing apart a reporter.

After Musk dusted off the viral clip, the video garnered over 22 million views with more than 204,000 likes.

Musk went on to share an article written by journalist Bari Weiss titled “The Comprehensive Failure of Justin Trudeau” and a video of Poilievre outlining how he would put an end to inflation as he addressed a group of workers.

“Perfectly articulated,” Musk wrote.

Immediately following Trudeau’s announcement on Monday, the Tesla CEO was one of the first notable names to cheer the news as he took to X to celebrate.

“2025 is looking good,” Musk wrote in response to another post that said: “Trump won. Trudeau resigned.”

After Poilievre sat down for an interview with Jordan Peterson, Musk reposted the video entitled “Canada’s Next Prime Minister,” calling it a “great interview.”

He also replied to billionaire Bill Ackman’s message that Poilievre “should be Canada’s next leader” with a 100% emoji.

Last month, after he called himself a “proud feminist” and took a swipe at Americans for not electing Kamala Harris as the country’s 47th president, Musk called Trudeau “an insufferable tool.”

“Won’t be in power for much longer,” Musk wrote about the prime minister on X in response to Trudeau’s comments.

Shortly afterwards, Musk said Poilievre “seems great” after Canadian author and professor Gad Saad tweeted, “I had forgotten what it was like to have a Canadian leader with a brain.”
