Wallace and Gromit attended the Golden Globes last night after Bristol-based Aardman’s latest film, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl was nominated for an award.

Vengeance Most Fowl is the latest addition to the Wallace & Gromit franchise, released on Christmas Day 2024. In the film, Gromit becomes concerned that Wallace has become too dependent on his inventions, which proves justified after a ‘smart’ garden gnome develops a mind of its own.

The stop-motion comedy was nominated for Best Animated Film, but lost to Flow, a film about a cat who finds refuge on a boat with other species after his home was destroyed in a flood.

On the red carpet, Aardman duo Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham, who wrote and directed the film respectively, held up model figures of Wallace and Gromit during photographs.

Vengeance Most Fowl was met with positive reviews, earning 100% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and a score of 95% from audiences.

It is unknown whether the film has been nominated for an Oscar ahead of the nominations announcement on the 17th January, but every previous film in the franchise has been nominated for either Best Animated Short Film or Best Animated Feature Film.

Aardman was founded in 1972 by Bristol-born Peter Lord and David Sproxton, the company continues to be based in the city. Other hit creations by the studio include Chicken Run, Morph, Shaun the Sheep and Flushed Away.
