League Two side Bradford City have released Northern Ireland international Corry Evans following the end of his contract.

The 34 year-old joined the Bantams in October on a short-term contract three months after he left Sunderland. The midfielder played nine times for Bradford, including four starts. However it was not enough to earn a contract extension at Valley Parade.

A club statement read: “Bradford City can confirm Corry Evans has left the club following the expiration of his contract.

“The experienced midfielder featured nine times in all competitions during his stay in BD8, with six of his outings coming in Sky Bet League Two.

“Everyone at Bradford City wishes Corry the best for the future and thank him for his services to the club.”

The midfielder has enjoyed a stellar career in the Football League, becoming firm favourite at Hull City, Blackburn Rovers and Sunderland.

He was club captain at the Stadium of Light when an ACL injury resulted in a 15-month stint on the sidelines.

Evans has played 69 times for Northern Ireland, scoring twice and playing at Euro 2016. He was an unused substitute in September when Michael O’Neill’s team defeated Luxembourg and lost to Bulgaria on their way to Nations League promotion.

Evans is now a free agent.

In other news, Corry Evans’ former international teammate Alan Mannus has joined Larne as Goalkeeper Coach following the departure of Alan Blayney.

Elsewhere, Loughgall have confirmed the triple signing of James Carroll, Matthew O’Brien and Francis McCaffrey. Defender Carroll joins from Glenavon, while midfielder O’Brien moves from League of Ireland club Drogheda United. Experienced Irish League midfielder McCaffrey joins from Newry City.
