Savouring that delightful first sip of coffee in the morning could become even more enjoyable.
This is because a neuroscientist suggests adding an ingredient to “halt ageing and smooth out wrinkles”. Known for his health tips, Robert Love’s latest advice has left fans thrilled.
He took to TikTok to reveal which “best” supplement can aid with the problem. Robert emphasised the need to brew organic coffee, pointing out that regular coffee might have brain and body-harming pesticides.
He also recommends using distilled water when it comes to making your daily cuppa. Robert explained: “The best thing to add to your coffee to help slow down ageing is collagen peptides.
“Collagen has great benefits for the skin, it has great benefits for the overall body – you can read the research on how people who take collagen have so many benefits from taking it.”
Robert added: “You want grass-fed or pasture-raised collagen – it has to be the highest quality. Next, make sure it’s third-party tested. It means you’re getting the highest quality.
“Lastly, this one has got Vitamin C and hyaluronic acid in. Vitamin C is necessary to use collagen effectively in your body so, when you take collagen, either take a Vitamin C supplement with it or get one with Vitamin C in it.
“Hyaluronic acid is really good for the skin, it’s good for the plumpness and health of your skin. So this has so many great benefits. I add this to my coffee. I love it.”
The video has been viewed thousands of times since it was shared, and people were quick to comment too. Hundreds shared their thoughts.
One person said: “Always looking for ways to make my coffee better.” Another wrote: “I’ve been taking it in my coffee for a month-and-a-half and, honestly, I will probably take it for the rest of my life. I’ve never taken anything that I could tell the difference so dramatically.”
A third also replied: “Your information is always valuable.”
How does collagen prevent ageing?
According to the National Institutes of Health, studies have shown that the oral intake of collagen works to boost moisture content of the skin, especially the stratum corneum. As well as this, it can improve elasticity and reduce wrinkles and roughness.
Collagen also increases fibroblasts and extracellular matrix proteins. Even though evidence has shown it has many benefits, more research is still needed into the area.
However, it’s important to remember that collagen won’t halt the ageing process entirely. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement, as some may contain allergens such as fish, shellfish or eggs, and may not be suitable for those following specific diets.
