Elon Musk has called for America to “liberate Britain” in a post on his social media platform.

The billionaire has posted a poll on his X site with the caption: “America should liberate the people of Britain from their tyrannical government.”

It comes after Musk said that Nigel Farage should stand down as Reform UK leader adding that the Clacton MP “doesn’t have what it takes.”

Farage, alongside the four other Reform MPs, said they disagreed with the tech billionaire’s assessment.

Responding to Musk’s post calling for him to stand down, he said: “Well, this is a surprise! Elon is a remarkable individual but on this I am afraid I disagree. My view remains that Tommy Robinson is not right for Reform and I never sell out my principles.”

Ashfield MP Lee Anderson, said: “I would not be here without Nigel. And Nigel is right. Over the next four years Reform UK led by Nigel is going to fight for the heart and soul of our beautiful country.

“Over the past 10 months I have seen close up how Nigel operates and how hard he works pulling everything together. I don’t know how he does it. There are plenty out there who want to see us fail, we love our country and we want it back.”

Great Yarmouth MP Rupert Lowe said: “Nigel is leader of Reform. He made Brexit happen, and for that I will always be grateful. I look forward to working with Nigel and the entire team to continue to hold this incompetent Labour Party to account, democratise our own party, win the next election and form a Reform Government.”

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is expected to respond to Elon Musk’s attacks on his record in tackling past grooming gang cases as director of public prosecutions (DPP).

Starmer has so far resisted speaking about the slew of online posts by the tech billionaire which included calling him “complicit in the rape of Britain.”

Musk also posted on X suggesting safeguarding minister Jess Phillips “deserves to be in prison” for denying requests for the Home Office to lead a public inquiry into child sexual exploitation in Oldham and called her a “rape genocide apologist.”

Health minister Karin Smyth said Musk’s attacks on the Prime Minister were “wrong” and “most people in this country know that.”

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said there is “a case for a relentless focus” to tackle grooming and child abuse, adding that “nobody has turned away” from the issue and there has been new major police investigations which have led to arrests, charges and convictions.

He told the BBC: “All I can say from here is, for us, we must complete the Greater Manchester review.

“The police investigations are ongoing. I wouldn’t want anything to cut across those police investigations, but I wouldn’t stand against a further national review if that was deemed necessary.”
