Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford’s apparent eagerness to get their divorce finalised could lead to “additional stress”, a relationship expert has cautioned. The pair, who share a 22-year-old son, took fans by surprise back in May when they announced their split after 14 years of marriage.

Eamonn, 65, is now in a new relationship with 42-year-old relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, while Ruth is believed to have remained single. According to The Sun, Eamonn is particularly keen “for a fresh start” in 2025.

Chloé Moreau, from ExpertsEnRencontres, has opened up about the potential pitfalls of rushing a divorce. “Fast-tracking a divorce can certainly bring closure and allow individuals to move on with their lives,” she explains.

For Eamonn, she says the drive to begin a new life with his partner might be fuelling this decision, whereas for Ruth, it could mean a chance to find stability and focus on her future. However, Chloé highlighted that the swift pace “should not come at the expense of addressing the emotional and practical implications for both parties.”

“Divorce is not just a legal transition – it’s an emotional one, and rushing through the process may leave unresolved feelings or create additional stress,” she warned.

Moreover, she advised that the ex-couple should aim for a fair settlement that caters to both of their needs during the divorce proceedings.

“If handled thoughtfully, a fast resolution could empower both Eamonn and Ruth to embrace their new beginnings while minimising conflict and uncertainty,” the relationship expert added.

Meanwhile, Ruth recently made a comment about her split from the GB News host, after maintaining silence since the news broke.

On Loose Women, while discussing how divorced parents should behave at family events, she said: “I think it’s very selfish when you hear parents say, ‘Well if they are divorced then, I’m not coming to your wedding if he’s coming’ or ‘If she is there’ and I just think it’s so selfish isn’t it, because it is their day.”

Mariella Frostrup chimed in with her take on the matter, adding: “That’s a whole other subject isn’t it? How to divorce well.”

Ruth light-heartedly replied, “Oh, tell me about it,” which sparked laughter in the studio.

Eamonn, for his part, has openly acknowledged the split. He showed his appreciation for the support he received from viewers live on his GB News show shortly after the announcement went public.
