Dunelm customers are praising a tool that’s perfect for battling mould. The retailer offers the Russell Hobbs Fresh Air Mini Compact Dehumidifier for £49.
The most common cause of mould growth is condensation, meaning it’s worthwhile to invest in something that will protect your home and health. Mould can cause respiratory infections, worsen asthma and allergic conditions, and potentially lead to headaches and skin irritation.
The Russell Hobbs unit, standing just 22cm tall, is meant to “help reduce humidity and minimise the physical signs of dampness and condensation in your home”. It works by extracting moisture from the air until its tank is full, and then its auto cut-off function ensures safety.
You can pick up the dehumidifier from your local Dunelm store with its click-and-collect service at no additional charge. Alternatively, you can have it delivered straight to your doorstep for free since it meets the minimum delivery cost.
The product, which boasts a ‘sleek’ black design, has garnered an impressive average rating of 4.4 out of five stars, reports the Mirror. Customers have highlighted that it is near-silent and still hugely effective.
One reviewer said: “Compact and quiet little unit which I use to help dry my clothes during the colder months. Not super powerful but does fine for a small space. Looks cool too.”
Another added: “Small, compact and easy to use. Works well in the living room of my small flat and helps to dry clothing. Air definitely feels fresher too.” A third customer shared: “Excellent for closet space and window areas. Best small dehumidifier that actually works.”
Someone else wrote on the Dunelm website: “I have tried lots of things to stop the excessive condensation on my bedroom windows and resulting black mould and this is the only thing that has done anything. Despite its size, it’s worked a treat, and I’m shocked at how quickly the water tank fills. I’m so impressed I’ve bought another one for my son’s room.”
However, not everyone shared the same sentiment. One claimed the emptying process was “extremely fiddly”. They added: “Whoever dreamt up the design hadn’t factored in that some people are going to be older and have a touch of arthritis in their hands. It’s virtually impossible to push and hold a button down when needing both hands to slide the cover off.”
Another customer was also less than impressed, warning: “I bought two of these for the bedrooms based on the many great reviews and could not be more disappointed – they are next to useless. Humidity in my home is high – over 80% at most times and these dehumidifiers simply do not have any power to extract the moisture.”
For those still in need of an effective solution against condensation, Amazon is currently selling the Newthinking Mini Electric Dehumidifier. It has a capacity for 1.1L of water, for £32.99, and this comes with the convenience of free delivery.
Also, Debenhams is featuring the Neo Portable Compact Dehumidifier in their January sale. Priced at £23.99, the 1.5L model sees a substantial discount from its original price of £116.
