The Masked Singer UK fans finally know the celebrity behind the Spaghetti Bolognese costume. Six new characters graced the stage on Saturday (January 4) night, marking the start of the sixth series of ITV’s eccentric guessing game show.
Teeth, Snail, Tattoo, Kingfisher, Spaghetti Bolognese and Dressed Crab were all selected to perform by celebrity detectives Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross and special guest Sir Mo Farah. However, Spag Bol and Teeth found themselves in the bottom two after receiving the fewest votes from the studio audience.
The panel chose to save Teeth from elimination, resulting in Spag Bol being the first contestant to be eliminated from the new series. As the mystery celebrity began to remove their mask, Host Joel Dommett intervened, telling them to wait until the next episode, leaving viewers at home frustrated with the cliffhanger.
During Sunday’s (January 5) episode, Spag Bol was finally unmasked, revealing Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway as the person behind the outrageous outfit. Speaking to Joel after her reveal, Kate admitted: “I can’t sing and I kept telling them that and they kept saying ‘it doesn’t matter’.”
The mother-of-two also confessed that her two children Darcey and Billy Draper were unaware she was participating in the show and she even lied to them, claiming she was “doing something for charity”, reports the Mirror.
However, the reveal didn’t come as a surprise to viewers watching the show at home. One fan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and wrote: “I knew it was kate garraway! ! ! #MaskedSingerUK.”
Another chimed in: “It was obvious #MaskedSingerUK.” A third person commented: “Of course its Kate Garraway #MaskedSingerUK.”
While a fourth social media user concurred: “I said Kate Garraway in family group chat last night #MaskedSingerUK.”
Bush, Bear, Pegasus, Pufferfish, Toad in The Hole and Wolf are all set to make their debut during the second episode of the series.
