The Masked Singer’s Pegasus was the second contestant to be eliminated from the ITV guessing game show. Prue Leith was unveiled as the celebrity behind the mask during Sunday’s (January 5) episode, which also saw Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway revealed as Spaghetti Bolognese after Saturday (January 4) night’s suspenseful ending.
Maya Jama, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross returned to the panel with special guest Vicky McClure, all attempting to identify the celebrities hidden beneath the extravagant costumes. Bush, Pufferfish, Pegasus, Wolf, Toad in the Hole and Bear made their series debut, but it was Pegasus and Bush who failed to win over the studio audience, landing them in the bottom two.
After the celebrity detectives saved Bush, Pegasus was obliged to remove their mask. Before the big reveal, the panel shared their guesses: Mo suggested Jane Seymour OBE, David guessed Elizabeth McGovern, Vicky proposed Clare Balding, Jonathan suspected Prue Leith and Maya thought Joanna Lumley.
However, it was disclosed that Bake Off star Prue was the one donning the mythical creature costume. Speaking to Joel Dommett after being unmasked, Great British Bake Off’s Prue shared that she took singing lessons especially for her stint on the show.
Yet, as Pegasus left the competition, viewers were unanimous in their reactions—with many taking to the platform formerly known as Twitter to express their thoughts, reports the Mirror.
One fan posted: “#maskedsingeruk probably the easiest one ever.” Another commented: “Yes it was prue a judge from bake off #MaskedSingerUK.” A third chimed in: “I knew it! PRUE LEITH. I got one right ! ! ” Meanwhile, a fourth also got it spot on: “Got it right.”
The remaining contestants Bush, Pegasus, Wolf, Toad in the Hole, Bear, Teeth, Dressed Crab, Kingfisher, Snail, and Tattoo are still in the running to win the 2025 series title.
