The Simpsons isn’t just known for being one of the longest running animated comedy series, its also known for its predictions.
Over the years, global events have seemingly been featured in the show years prior. Whether its Trump’s election, Disney buying 20th Century Fox, or the building of The Shard, The Simpsons writers have a slightly eerie history of accurate predictions.
So, naturally, people began asking what’s in store for the world in 2025 according to The Simpsons. Lets just say, we hope they’re wrong on this one.
There were a few moments throughout the show that may be describing events of 2025.
In Season 16, Episode 19, titled ‘Thank God It’s Doomsday’, Marge decides to get a haircut, but Bart and Lisa want to go to a cooler salon in the mall. Homer takes the kids there, despite Marge’s protest, but it goes horribly wrong when Bart and Lisa leave the salon with half-shaved heads.
Hiding from their classmates, Homer, Bart, and Lisa run into a movie theatre where they watch a film about the Rapture. After the movie, Homer believes the Rapture is imminent, and begins saying “the end is near”.
People believe him at first, until nothing happens. But that’s when Homer realises he got the date wrong, and the apocalypse is yet to come.
Moments later, Homer is in heaven where he pleads with God to save his family. After negotiating, God eventually agrees to turn back time and Homer awakens from his ‘dream’ before reuniting with his loved ones.
Many have believed that this is a prediction for 2025, even though it may seem far-fetched, but they think the themes of the apocalypse are relevant to 2025.
Another prediction is World War Three, and with rising global tensions, this one might feel too close to home. There have been a few mentions of World War Three throughout the series.
In a scene from Season 6 Episode 19, ‘Lisa’s Wedding’, Lisa’s British fiancé, Hugh Parkfield, visits Moe’s Tavern in the future. Moe tells Hugh Americans ‘saved their a** in WW2’ to which Hugh responds: “Well, we saved your a**e in WW3”.
Due to number of successful predictions the episode has made, many are anxious this one will too. Of course, these are all far-fetched, and The Simpsons’ correct predictions are often simply loosely related coincidences. But it still makes audiences wonder if there are any truths to these ideas of the future.
