Four suspects are sought after a bank was purposely set on fire in Markham last month.

York Regional Police said officers were called on Dec. 22 at 11:18 p.m. to a bank in the area of Yonge St. and Royal Orchard Blvd. – south of Hwy. 407 – for a report of a fire.

Officers arrived with members from the Markham Fire and Emergency Services to find that the vestibule area was on fire. Smoke was seen coming from the roof.

The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries.

Later that same night, the fire reignited and was quickly extinguished.

The building sustained severe damage as a result of the fire.

Video surveillance shows four suspects, all wearing dark clothing, being dropped off by a dark-coloured sport utility vehicle and entering the vestibule.

At 11:08 p.m., police said three suspects fled southbound and a fourth suspect fled northbound from the bank prior to the fire starting.

Police have released video footage of the suspects.
