Maya Jama has admitted that she had a “shaky” start as she replaces Rita Ora on the panel of The Masked Singer UK.

The Love Island presenter will be back on our screens this weekend as she makes her debut as a celebrity detective alongside show regulars Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan.

The foursome will attempt to work out which famous faces are behind the wacky costumes as they belt out tracks for the studio audience and viewers watching at home.

During Friday’s (January 3) episode of Good Morning Britain, showbiz editor Richard Arnold spoke to Mo, Davina, Maya and Jonathan in a pre-recorded interview filmed the same time as the latest series.

Richard welcomed Maya to the panel and she shared exactly how she’s getting on. She said: “I’m going to be honest. I started off a little shaky and then I managed to get one in the bag already.”

The GMB host also grilled the others on their time working on The Masked Singer. Richard asked host Joel Dommett: “You get up close and personal to the contestants, more so than the judges do. You must pick up some clues from that?”

Joel admitted: “Sometimes. Every now and then when the light hits them in the right way I’m going to see a nose.” A shocked Davina hot back, saying: “Hang on, we didn’t know that.”

Presenter Joe confessed: “Yeah every now and again. It doesn’t help me.” Jonathan added: “The clues are a bit too hard sometimes, don’t you think? Sometimes we’ll even ask the people when the mask comes off and say ‘what did that clue mean?’ and they go ‘I don’t know’.”
