With temperatures set to plummet across the UK this weekend, you may be tempted to reach for the thermostat to keep warm. But you can save money with a “game-changer” heated blanket instead, now available at almost half-price.

The Ezysleep Cosy Heated Over Throw Fleece Blanket has been slashed in price at Debenhams in the store’s January sales. It’s now available for £31.19, down from £59.99.

And if that’s not incentive enough, the blanket costs just pennies to run, compared to whacking up your central heating. You’ll pay just 5p an hour when running the warm throw on a high setting, according to statistics from price comparison service, Uswitch.

The blanket measures a snuggly 160 x 120cm in size, meaning it is large enough to wrap yourself up in for a cosy evening on the sofa, or even for sleeping under in bed. And it comes in four stylish colours to match the aesthetic of any home – including black, grey, silver and a ‘natural’ sandy brown colour.

The product description on the Debenhams website reads as follows: “The Ezysleep heated electric throw is a premium quality addition for your home. Made using luxury thick fleece fabric, these large size throws provide the perfect cosy experience.

“Various heat and timer settings mean you can find the ideal temperature to suit your needs, and with overheating protection you can have peace of mind when in use. Even heat distribution throughout the blanket provides an energy efficient solution for even the coldest of months.

“Easy to clean, these throws are totally machine washable, simply detach the control and power cord before washing and you can enjoy that fresh clean feeling whenever you want.”

The super-soft, 100% polyester blanket also claims to be easy to operate, with an LED display that makes using the blanket fuss-free, reports the Mirror.

It’s no surprise, then, that shoppers are raving about the item, with more than half of those who have purchased the blanket giving it a perfect, five-star rating.

One happy customer wrote: “Omg! I now know what friends and family members rave about! Game-changer, and recommend to anyone living in cold climates.”

Another added: “First class, it keeps you nice and warm and cosy, and you can set it at your own temperature with minimal running cost. Do not know how we managed without it.”

A third commented: “Love this blanket, so soft and cosy. Cheaper than putting the heating on for the whole house just for one person in one room.”

And a fourth raved: “We bought two of these, and what a game-changer they are. We have one each and use while watching TV on an evening, start at number 6 and soon can drop the temperature down low to stay toasty warm. Fabulous product.”

However, not everyone was as impressed with the Ezysleep blanket, as a few customers noted the blanket does not heat up all over.

One wrote: “Takes a while to warm up, then to find only parts of it get warm. Lead is really short, definitely a tripping hazard.”

And another commented: “Okay-ish heated blanket, doesn’t heat all over and seems to be quite weak when it does heat. The highest setting isn’t much different from the lowest setting.”
